The qualifying stages for the 2016 European Championships in France continued on November 14 with games in Groups D, F, and I

Group D
Poland visited Georgia and came away with all three points after a 4-0 thumping of the home side. Poland is still unbeaten with three wins and a draw for 10 points. All four goals came in the second half. Defender Kamil Glik headed in the first goal after 51 minutes and that was followed up in the 71st minute when Grzegorz Krychowiak scored. Sebastian Mila made it 3-0 just two minutes later and 20-year-old Arkadiusz Milik rounded out the scoring in the second minute of injury time with his third tally of the qualifying campaign.

Scotland managed to beat the Republic of Ireland at home for the first time since 1961 with a 1-0 triumph at Celtic Park in Glasgow. Shaun Maloney scored the only goal of the game in the 75th minute. In the other Group D showdown, reigning World Cup holders Germany beat Gibraltar 4-0 at home. Thomas Muller scored in the 12th and 29th minutes while Mario Gotze added one in the 38th and Gibraltar’s Yogan Santos deposited one in his own net in the 67th minute.

Group F
The shock of the day took place in Greece as the home nation was beaten by the tiny Faroe Islands 1-0. Jóan Edmundsson scored the lone goal of the game in the 61st minute and it was the Faroe Islands first competitive away victory since 2001. They went into the game in the basement of the group, but the win allowed them to leap over last-place Greece.

Group leaders Romania beat second-place Northern Ireland 2-0 at home with Paul Papp scoring both goals, in the 74th and 79th minutes. In the other Group F match, third-place Hungary edged fourth-place Finland 1-0 at home. Zoltan Gera headed in the winning goal in the 84th minute.

Group I

Portugal managed to beat Armenia 1-0 at home with Cristiano Ronaldo, who else, scoring the game winner. Ronaldo scored the clincher with 18 minutes to go to lift Portugal into second place in the group. In the other match, Serbia took on Denmark at home behind closed doors due to fan trouble and came out on the wrong end of a 3-1 decision. Zoran Tosic put the Serbian side ahead after just four minutes, but Nicklas Bendtner scored in the 60th and 85th minutes and Simon Kjaer added one in the 62nd minute for the victory.
